LPN Entrance Exam:
Test Registration Packet
GENERAL
Candidates may obtain a copy of the rules and procedures regarding the test and a copy of the registration form by clicking on the link above. The information described below is a summary of these forms.
WHAT IS THE HESI EXAM?
The HESI is a proven diagnostic test that assists nursing education programs in evaluating both academic and social skills of Nursing Program applicants. All applicants applying to LPN program must take the HESI as part of the admission requirements. The Reading Comprehension and Essential Math Skills portions of the test are used to determine eligibility.
1. Essential Math Skills: Whole Numbers, Measurement Conversions, Percentages, Decimals, Fractions, Word Problems, Roman Numerals, Military Time, and Algebra. Calculators are NOT allowed, however scratch paper will be provided. There are 55 math problems to complete in 90 minutes.
2. Reading Comprehension Skills: Reading Rate, Reading Rate Placement, Main Ideas of Passage, Critical Thinking, Inferential Reading, and Predicting of Outcomes. There are 47 questions to complete in 90 minutes.
HOW LONG DOES THE EXAM LAST?
The exam is timed and usually lasts 3 hours.
HOW MUCH DOES THE TEST COST AND HOW DO I REGISTER?
The exam fee is $50.00. This non-refundable fee must be paid in at the time of registration. To register for the exam applicants may come in to the school to pay by cash, money order, or credit card. If you are unable to come in, you may fax in your registration form and pay by credit card. (NOTE: Payment/registration for the exam cannot be on the same day as the exam.)
IS A STUDY GUIDE AVAILABLE?
To help applicants prepare for the exam, The HESI Study Guide is available for purchase at the school. The cost of the study guide is $50.
HOW SOON WILL I GET MY TEST RESULTS?
Results of the exam are typically available within one week from the date of testing.

OTHER INFORMATION
All candidates must present photo identification to test. During testing, the use any notes, books, computational or language aids, or any scratch paper brought to the Testing Center will not be permitted. Students cannot talk with anyone other than testing staff during the exam. Students may only use the scratch paper provided by testing staff, and cannot take it away from the Testing Center. All scratch paper must be left on their testing station after the exam is completed.
